Book Review - Chosen

Chosen

by Ginger Garrett

I've always been fascinated with the story of Esther, because it is such a beautiful example of how one life yielded to God truly can have a dramatic impact. Those famous words, "Who knows but that you have come to this position for such a time as this?" have encouraged me through countless difficult situations.

In Chosen, the Lost Diaries of Queen Esther, author Ginger Garrett transports readers thousands of years in the past, and introduces us to a beautiful young girl through the pages of her diary. We feel her budding love for a young man in her village, and her hopeful plans for the future. But those plans are crushed when she is chosen as a potential bride for the powerful king Xerxes. Torn from the only life she knows, she is taken to the palace and taught the ways of beauty and grace so she might please the king. But things go terribly wrong, and Hadassah -- now known as Esther -- must draw on reserves of strength and her faith in a powerful God to save her own life and the lives of an entire nation.

This was an excellent book. The writing style was just beautiful, and the characters and setting so real I could see the scenes unfolding before my eyes. I highly recommend it to anyone who likes Biblical fiction.
